Sri Lanka for Christmas and New Years

We missed our families so much over the holidays!  But we had a wonderful time scaling all sides of Sri Lanka, visiting ancient cities, scaling a sacred mountain with the pilgrams, birding in ancient rain forests, and enjoying the sunshine at the beach.  We agreed that Sri Lanka is a gem, and a place to which we'd both love to return. Below you will see photos from our Christmas night at Galle Face Hotel in Colombo, then the Rock Temples in Dambulla and sacred city at Sigiriya Rock (both World Heritage Sites!), then climbing Adam's Peak (known to be sacred space to many religions, as there are legends that Buddha, Shiva, Adam, Mohammad stepped foot there on his way to the afterlife), then to the Rainforest in Diniyaya, and finally to the southern beach of Mirissa!
