Monastery in Keylong
A young nun met us and showed us the beautiful murals inside the monks' ceremonial room. She saw Adam's binoculars and asked to borrow them. She looked into them and scanned the farms around Keylong across the valley (from where we had hiked). The young nun said she was looking for her sister, and when she saw her across the valley a big grin came across her face.
Rohtang Pass

Cricket!
We went to our first cricket match in Dharamsala between the Punjab Kings and the Chennai Super Kings! We loved it!
Hiking in Dharamsala
We have been relaxing for the past week in McCleod Ganj, a part of Dharamsala where the Tibetan exile community has made their epicenter of Tibetan Buddhism. Sadly we missed the Dalai Lama who is travelling and lecturing around the world. But we have thoroughly enjoyed spending time with friends, yoga-ing, birding, and relaxing. It's definitely an alternate reality to our life in Delhi -- one that we warmly welcome! Enjoy these photos from a recent hike.
Golden Temple
We are in the middle of a three week adventure exploring the Himalayas. En route, we stopped in Amritsar to see the Golden Temple. This is the Sikh holy site to which many people must make a pilgrimage. It was one of the most incredible temples we've visited thus far, and we were able to visit twice--you can see photos below from the afternoon and then evening. We also went to the border crossing with Pakistan and watched an interesting 'closing of the border' routine carried out by Indians watching guards on the India side, and Pakistanis watching the guards on their side. Definitely the most "Indian pride" we experienced since arriving, with flags and cheers galore. (Although sadly we don't have photos of that...)
